Hopefully the letter sent by Olivier Stirn, former Minister of the French Government and grand nephew of the Alfred Dreyfus will be answered by Madam Najat Vallaud-Belkacem. I want to thank Mr Olivier Stirn for his support and share a few highlights from his letter…
“Dr Rachid Zegdi is a doctor with a good reputation…He asked me to make sure that his letter would get to you. I am pleased to do so because I am afraid he was victim of discrimination. I am asking you to examine his case and only seek justice…”
May all my friends and my supporters be reassured, that I am more motivated than ever.
The flame that fuels my conviction has not wavered…
My fight continues… There will be only one winner, JUSTICE!

November 30th 2014 – LETTER TO MRS NAJAT VALLAUD-BELKACEM
Minister of National Education, Higher Education and Research
Minister,
On April 18, 2013, my academic career was inevitably shattered. Why? It is a question that still torments my mind without interruption.
On this day, during the 2013 annual recruitment of Professors, my candidacy was inexplicably rejected by the members of the Jury. To this day, I have not been provided a rational explanation or justification for this wrongful decision. Many questions are still unanswered:
- Why did the Jury decide to reject the most qualified candidate, with the highest degree amongst the six candidates?
- Why did the subsection 51-03 Jury decide against accepting the only candidate who has been a member of the National Council of Universities for the last 6 years?
- Why did the Jury dismiss the candidate who possesses the most advanced qualifications and performed the most prestigious accomplishments of all the candidates that year? (Make no mistake, Madam Secretary, that the National Council of Universities identified 600 points as the minimum requirement to apply for consideration to be a professor of universities. In this year, 2013, the candidates who were accepted possessed between 500 and 1,100 points. The only candidate that was not accepted, me, was in possession of 2,121 points).
- How is it possible that the Jury ruled out the only candidate in the history of the specialization, that participated in the creation of a company in his domain of expertise?
- Why did the Jury dismiss the only candidate that was selected by his peers as “the Cardiologist of the Year” in 2006?
- Why did the Jury dismiss the only candidate who received the “2006 Victoires de la Medicine” award for his work in research?
- Why did the Jury dismiss the only candidate who created a new curriculum and advanced degree in cardiac procedures for the University of Paris which continues to be attended by elite Cardiologists from around the world? And the only candidate who founded an international partnership (Denmark, Canada) in the area of research?
Why? …… What was the motivation behind rejecting my candidacy?
Madame Secretary, I can assure you that if my skills were inadequate or I failed at the examination, I would NEVER burden you with my story. (The irony of the situation is that I was congratulated by members of the Jury for my accomplishments despite being rejected for the candidacy.)
An overwhelming feeling of resentment and deep injustice lead me to turn to the Justice Department nearly a year ago. My case remains stagnant with the Justice Department despite significant evidence of the irregularities of the selection process.
If the decision of the Justice Department is in my favor, there will be no choice but to nullify the 2013 annual recruitment of Professors results. But would justice really be served, if:
- those that missuse and abuse their power go unpunished?
- the position I applied for was already awarded to someone else?
Madam Secretary, I come to you today because you are the only person who has the power of opening an administration investigation, punishing the culprits, lifting this injustice and instilling restitution.
I am putting myself at your disposal for any clarification needed.
Sincerely,
Dr. Rachid Zegdi
